What to Expect from CoopandCondo.com
At the risk of having someone suffer the same reaction, and since the website is brand new, I thought I would spend a few minutes to explain what I’m trying to accomplish and what to expect if you spend time reading the material I have put together.
It’s Not Rocket Science and It’s Not Art, But That Being Said…
There are thousands of residential real estate transactions taking place every day in New York, financial crisis notwithstanding. Many of those transactions are mundane and basically a sleepwalk experience. We are living through a challenging time, however, and what folks ignored in the past when purchasing an apartment, simply won’t work today. We have learned that it is very difficult to rely on others for judgments we need to make for ourselves. This reality is particularly true when it comes to purchasing an residential real estate.
With the above in mind, after 30 years of practicing law in Manhattan, I am assembling a comprehensive database of what folks should know when they consider buying or selling an apartment in New York City or when they are fortunate enough to already own one.
The site has two main components: articles on a myriad of topics and “Asked and Answered”, a question and answer blog, which I hope will one day contain every possible question and answer about buying, selling and owning an apartment in New York City. Every question and answer? It’s a goal…
A Few Acknowledgments
This site would not have been possible without the efforts of the design team at Monaco Lange, as well as the implementation work by Todd Lynch of ShiftEight. I greatly appreciate their efforts. I also acknowledge Marton Nagy, of IT Technology Management, for his initial input on site infrastructure.
My wife, Ruth, is responsible for the many line drawings on the site. As the content expands, with enough begging and pleading on my part, so will the line drawings.
Finally, I would also like to thank my brother, Rick Gitter, retired broadcast standards executive at NBC, and my assistant Rachel Landisman, for their superb editing efforts.
The site is only a few weeks old, but the response has been incredible and greatly appreciated. Please forward questions and comments, and I will incorporate them where possible and where appropriate. Welcome to coopandcondo.com
