Does my dog have to be interviewed by the Board?Probably not, but sometimes it does happen. Many buildings in New York City are pet friendly and some are not. Even in pet friendly buildings, many Boards are leery of large dogs or dangerous breeds. In some cases, the Board will actually want to meet the dog to see if there are any behavioral issues. When applying to purchase an apartment, approval should mean approval with your pet. Make sure the contract says so.
Once you're in a co-op or condo, it's a bad idea not to comply with the building's pet policy. For more on this, see "You Don't Wanna Do That: Five Things That Purchasers and Owners Should Avoid".
